Determined to continue his loyalty to the recently freed former Delta state governor, Mr. James Ibori, incumbent governor Ifeanyi Okowa has allegedly concluded all necessary plans to package a superb church thanksgiving service and reception party worth several millions of naira running into N350 million for his political godfather and former boss, Ibori.
Ibori, was last year December, 2016 released from the United Kingdom (UK) prison after serving his 13 year jail term for money laundry and corruption. Ibori returned to the country last week Saturday and was received with wild jubilation and celebration family members, well wishers, friends and his political associates including officials of the Okowa led administration at his hometown of Oghara, Ethippe West local government area of Delta state.
Just last week Sunday, governor Okowa led his cabinet members on a visit to former governor Ibori at his Oghara country home where they both went into a close door meeting that lasted over two hours. The two ceremonies, HardReporters reliably gathered will attract creme da creme of the society from all walks of life.
A Delta state government official had last week told a HardReporters correspondent of the intentions of governor Okowa to lavish huge sum of money on the homecoming of his political godfather and former boss whose back he rode to the exalted position of governor of Delta state.
Our dependable source further revealed that the sum of N350 million Okowa allegedly earmarked for the two ceremonies in honour of Ibori, will be tied to sub heads to enable the easy pulling out of the money and to cover tracks that could attract the eagle eyes of anti-graft agents.
“The reception will take place at the Oghara stadium, unless there are last minutes changes in the whole arrangement. The office of the Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG is deeply involved in the whole arrangement and everything is to be done secretly.” our source stated.
Several calls to the Chief Press Secretary to governor Okowa, Mr. Charles Aniagwu on 08033295712 were not answered as at the time of this report but a source close to his office confirmed that the Okowa’s sponsorship of a thanksgiving and reception is no longer a news across the state saying that “We are only hearing that the money involved is a huge sum and as you know some persons must always amassing wealth from this huge sum. It’s a free money.” our source stressed.
