Ahead of the Delta state January, 6, 2018 local government polls, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), chairmanship candidates of Isoko South and North local government areas, Itiakpo Constantine Ikpokpo and Emmanuel Egbabor have been presented with the party flag.
The two separate presentation ceremonies which was done during the campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming local government elections held at Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South and Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North local government areas of the state Friday was attended by the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, state chairman of the party, Kingsley Esiso and other top state and local government leaders of the party.

Speaking during the two separate campaign rallies, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who noted that since his inception in office as a governor Isoko nation happened to be the most invited among all the tribes in the state even as he promised that with the rising revenue profile, his administration will ease the salary burden of local government councils in the state.

Mr. Okowa while thanking those who lost out in the primaries of the party when the candidates for the elections emerged for putting the party first before self, expressed concern about the plight of Local council workers.
“We feel the pains of our brothers and sisters in the local government councils, we are happy that peace has returned to our state, this will lead to increase in revenue and with such, we will assist the councils to reduce their salary burdens.”

Okowa disclosed that as a state, his administration is not owing workers, but however assured workers at the local government councils that the situation will change for the better, observing that candidates of the party for the local government elections are tested men and women who will ensure that the right things are done for the people.

“In every election, it is not everybody who aspires that will emerge as candidate, I suffered the same fate in 1990 but, I rose up and supported the person who was chosen as the party’s candidate, today, I am a Governor; those who lost in the primaries should not lose hope, they should continue to work for the party and always put the party first before self.

“Leaders of the party should know that this is democracy and we are going for elections, they should go to their different wards and galvanize votes because, nobody will write result anywhere and the number of votes from your area will show how popular you are.” Okowa said.

Governor Okowa commended the people for turning out in their large numbers for the campaign rallies, stating that the crowd of party faithful was a clear evidence that the PDP was strong in the areas.

In his speech, state chairman of the party in Kingsley Esiso stated that the sincerity of Governor Okowa in managing the affairs of the state has increased the fortunes of the PDP.

Speaking separately, leaders of the party in the areas, Stella Omu, Idodo-Umeh, Dennis Etalokwu, Solomon Ogba, Ross Uredi, Ovuozorie Macaulay, Tim Owefere, among others, asserted that Delta State belongs to the PDP and the party will emerge victorious in the January 6, 2018 local government elections.

Speaking separately in an interview with newsmen, Isoko South chairmanship candidate, Itiako Constantine Ikpokpo and his Isoko North counterpart, Emmanuel Egbabor thanked governor Ifeanyi Okowa who they described as a rare gem as far as leadership and governance is concerned adding that the party leadership can not be equated in any way as they poured encomiums of the PDP state chairman, Kingsley Esiso for his good quality leadership.

The two chairmanship candidates while thanking leaders of the party at the local governments level, party faithful, members, supporters, promised a more robust and better days in their second tenures.
