According to a civil servant who simply have his name as Comrade Samson, governor Okowa has continued to deceive the people with his new song of born again, when in real sense of it, he is busy looting the state treasury, adding that “How can a man who is busy looting the state treasury and neck deep in corruption and fraudulent activities come and be using the state treasury to sponsor Anti-Corruption summit.?” Samson queried.

A member of the Makarfi led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) faction in Delta state who pleaded for anonymity, said governor Okowa is a “green snake in green grass”, lamenting that major juicy contracts in the state have been allegedly hijacked by the governor.

“It’s unfortunate that our so called self acclaimed “born again” governor, has decided and succeeded in blindfolding everybody with his “born again” new song, yet he has hijacked all mouth watery contracts to himself using cronies, friends, family members as fronts. This is the same man who awarded the mouth watery “Fast Track 90 days C of O contract to his own blood cousin, very soon Deltans will be having their water boreholes tested and after the testing, you will be made to pay money at the end of the day. Ask your “born again” governor to tell you who he awarded this contract to. Governor Okowa, should stop deceiving the federal government and the people. He is corrupt and everybody is aware of his hide and seek corruption.” the PDP member stated.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said the anti-corruption war of the federal government will be more effective if it is free from all social, religious and political persuasions adding that “Corruption is one of the most recurring discourses in our national life, because, virtually every Nigerian agrees that it undermines the fabric of every aspect of society”.

According to Okowa who spoke on theme “Transparency And Accountability: Institutionalisation Of Good Governance For Sustainable For.” noted that “The fight against corruption is not an easy task, but it can be won through advocacy such as this one that aims at drastic reduction and where possible, total elimination of the practices in every facet of our national life, today, our anti-corruption agencies, namely, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission, the Code of Conduct Bureau and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, are in the forefront of the fight against corruption.”
