The Delta State Police Command has rearrested a notorious woman gang leader specialised in child trafficking in the state. The suspect whose name was given as Abigail Nwakam, popularly known as “Madam Cash” was last year arrested by the police over same offence which she is currently facing trail at a magistrate court in the state capital.
Parading the suspect and other suspects arrested for different offences across the state, on Thursday at the state police headquarters, Saba, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, at the police headquarters in Asaba, said “Madam Cash” and her gang are specialized in the kidnap and sales of children.
“Complain came to us that one Moses Illoba aged 7, of Okpanam was
kidnapped and immediately we spread our drag net which led to the arrest of Abigail Nwakam (Madam Cash) and one Ifeoma Anyadike and led to the recovery of the victim with the aid of the second suspect.”
The police boss said, following vigorous investigation, their arrest of the suspects led to the arrest of other of their associates in crime which include Emeka Ofodozie, Augustine Isiegune and Anthonia Onwuegbusis in Anambra State.
The state police boss also disclosed that 4 years old Chimobi Emmanuel Sunday who was kidnapped at 9 mile Enugu State was recovered from one of the syndicates, Emeka Ofodozie adding that investigation is on top gear.
The grandmother of the recovered child, Mrs Okwueze Josephine told Journalists
that her grandchild was kidnapped by “Madam Cash” sometime last year adding that “He was kidnapped at Okpanam on the 30th of August 2016 by “Madam Cash” and her group and was brought back last Thursday where he was dropped in front of the police headquarters after six months”.
She noted that her grandchild kidnappers took him to Port Harcourt and changed his name from Moses Illoba
to Uchena Chimobi.
