Ogorugba stressed the importance of proper registration of all foreign residents in the area including the Nigerians, citing growing concerns over the activities of herdsmen particularly those hiding in bushes and destroying farmland.

The chairman urged the community leaders to speak to their members, especially those involved in cattle rearing, to desist from any destructive behaviour, warning that the government would no longer turn a blind eye to such actions.

“Go and tell your brothers especially those rearing cows in the bush to stop any destructive behaviour. The government will go after them if this continues. We have no problem with anyone residing here, as long as they are properly documented in accordance with ECOWAS free movement protocols. But we will no longer tolerate anyone coming here to cause problems for our people,” Ogorugba warned.

Earlier, the Divisional Immigration Officer, Mr. Agalivie Israel, informed the council chairman that foreign residents are required to register annually, adding that those with expired registration have been directed to report to the Immigration office to renew their status.
