Ogorugba Wins ‘Champion of Sustainable Development’ Award, Appreciates Oborevwori, Isoko North

Performing chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta state, Godwin Ogorugba, has again been bestowed with an award for his giant strides contributions towards the sustainable development, particularly in infrastructure and human capital development since acception in office within a year.

The award “Champion Of Sustainable Development”, was presented to the council chairman on Tuesday during the 4th anniversary celebration and roundtable on sustainable development of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State and organized by the Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) of the institution.

The theme of the event “Sustainable Partnership Against Crude Oil Theft, Pipeline Vandalism and Illegal Mining”, brought together stakeholders from across the state.

Receiving the award, the council chairman, Ogorugba expressed deep appreciation to the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the people of Isoko North for entrusting him with the opportunity to serve even as he acknowledged that his achievements are rooted in a genuine passion for public service and inspired by the governor’s directives and vision for development.

“I want to first and foremost thank His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the good people of Isoko North for giving me the opportunity to serve. Without this opportunity, I wouldn’t be standing here today receiving this award.

“A lot is being done in Isoko North to align with the global goals of sustainable development. I sincerely hope that this forum will encourage us to continue translating plans into real actions, and not just paperwork,” Ogorugba added.

He also commended the university for organizing the event, noting its relevance in raising awareness and driving action toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event featured insightful contributions from security experts, civil society activists, and professionals who discussed challenges and solutions in achieving sustainable development.

Hon. Ogorugba was accompanied by his wife, Dcns. Veronica Ogorugba; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Pascal Emehaula; councillors; the local government management team led by the Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Irene Owondi; SSA to the Governor on Political Matters, Richard Isagba; aides led by Sir Vote Umukoro, and other associates.

Dignitaries present at the event includes former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Festus Agas; the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge; Chairman of Warri South, Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyiniro; Rex Anigboro, among others, chairman of Isoko North and his wife, Godwin and Dcns Veronica Ogorugba, leader of Isoko North legislative Arm, Pascal Emehaula; Isoko North councillors and council officials led by the Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Irene Owondi; SSA to the governor on Political Matters, Richard Isagba and council aides led by Vote Umukoro and other political associates.
