SSDC: Delta Ex-SSG, Macaulay Is The Right, Best, Most Qualified Man For The MD Job, CSSPN Writes Tinubu

As the jostle for the position of the Managing Director, (MD) of the newly created South South Development Commission (SSDC), gains momentum, a socio-political body, Coalition Of South-South Peoples Network, “Worldwide”, (CSSPN-Worldwide) has called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint, former Secretary to the Delta State Government, (SSG), Comrade Chief Ovuzorie Samuel Macaulay, ‘Okiroro of Isoko nation’ as the pioneer head of the commission.

The body, in a letter signed by Chief Goodluck Akporobaro, Delta/Edo coordinator, Dr. Philip Boro, Rivers/Bayelsa coordinator and Hon Basil Udo, Akwa-Ibom/Cross-Rivers, and made available to Journalists in Abuja, commended President Tinubu for creating the commission even as they described Macaulay as a tested and trusted astute politician who has paid his dues and most qualified man for the job.

According to the letter, titled “SSDC: Delta Ex-SSG Comrade Chief Ovuzorie Samuel Macaulay (Okiroro of Isoko Nation) Is The Right And Best Man For The Job. Mr President Appoint Macaulay And You Will Never Regret It”, noted that the Delta state former SSG is a square peg in square hole and his political expertise is top-notch.

“Macaulay’s political and financial contributions to the All Progressive Congress, (APC), before and during the 2023 general elections in Isoko and Delta state is tantamount to love, commitment and loyalty he has for the party as a party man. The political antecedents of the man, Macaulay no doubt if appointed the pioneer MD of the South South Development Commission, he will make the region and the entire nation proud. Macaulay is a seasoned administrator whose hunger for development has no match and we appeal to you, Mr. President to make him the MD, as we talk millions of Nigerians especially from the region are rooting for him even those he don’t know and all can be attributed to his antecedents.

“Comrade Chief Ovuzorie Samuel Macaulay is an astute politician with proven integrity and a loyal servant to the core. Macaulay, is a trained Journalist who rose to become the pioneer Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council and later became Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC. Former commissioner for conflict resolution who brought the peace been enjoyed today in Warri, former commissioner for Energy, former Chief of Staff, government house, former Secretary to the State Government, former Director General, Warri/Uvwie & Environs Special Area Development Agency.

“Macaulay obtained a degree in Mass Communication from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, and later a Masters degree in Mass Communication in the same university. He also obtained a certificate in Leadership from the University of Oxford; Certificate from Harvard Business School and a Certificate from Galilee College, Israel on National  Security amongst others at various times. He retired voluntarily from civil service at the end of his tenure as NLC chairman in Delta State. 

“After his retirement, the then Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori appointed him as Commissioner for Special Duties in charge of Conflict Resolution. Comrade Macaulay is a great philanthropist and has a very large heart for charity works. He has been using his NGO Macaulay Foundation to assist over 1000 widows, Orphans, and vulnerable children yearly. It is as though philanthropy and charity work flows through his veins. The former SSG has given out countless scholarships to students at Secondary, Higher Institutions of learning. Macaulay’s book of stewardship titled “My Stewardship” captioned his developmental strikes within and outside Isoko nation.

“Due to his visible role in the delivery of dividends of democracy to Deltans, his quest for the development of the entire State and Humanitarian services across Isoko Nation, Delta and Nigeria at large, Isoko Traditional Rulers council conferred on him a chieftaincy title; “The Okiroro of Isoko Nation”, at the end of his tenure as SSG in 2015. He has also bagged several Humanitarian services Awards from various Organisations and Churches across the country. The most recent coming from the Catholic Diocese of Minna in Niger State. We want to also use this medium to call on all South South members of the national Assembly to push for this beautiful soul named Macaulay.” the letter concluded.
