Former Delta State House of Assembly member representing Isoko South 1 and leader of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Isoko, Lucky Okperi has described the House of Representatives minority leader and member representing Isoko federal constituency, Leo Ogor as a “serious” embarrassment to Isoko nation and the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), that featured him as her candidate for the same seat in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Okperi, lawyer by profession, who made this observation while speaking with News men during a love banquet he organized for members of APC in his Oleh country home, headquarters of Isoko South local government area of the state to mark the new year day celebrations, noted that “The People’s Democratic Party in Isoko land is a confused party having featured a wrong House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Leo Ogor, who is now bringing serious embarrassment to the party and to the Isoko people.”
The APC leader further described Ogor as a failed representative, stressing that “the PDP knows it has done itself a great disservice for selecting a candidate that is not only spearheading division of Isoko ethnic group, but one that has also been conspicuously absent from plenary for about two years now. APC is highly confident of coasting home to victory as long as the 2019 elections are concerned.
“The House of Representatives election is a work over for our APC candidate, Hon. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas because the PDP House of Representatives candidate and the current minority leader of the green chamber, has lost his savour in Isoko federal constituency. It was most laughable reading the half-baked response of the PDP to the statement I released earlier to the media regarding the looming defeat of PDP House of Representatives candidate, Mr. Leo Ogor in the February 16, 2019 election.
“The response did not just lack substance, it was a total balderdash, which only reveals the inability of the PDP media team to comprehend logical submissions. Let me tell you categorically that the PDP is currently regretting and also feeling embarrassed for selecting Mr. Leo Ogor as its House of Representatives candidate. Just few days ago, the Isoko South PDP media team released a statement pleading with Isoko people to “ignore” Leo Ogor over his incoherent, unreasonable and divisive statement, where he mentioned that Isoko federal constituency belongs to Isoko North alone.
“They are technically begging Isoko people because they have missed the point. They failed to understand that the Isoko federal constituency does not belong to one man, so they gave him ticket for the fifth times against the will of the people despite his health condition. Now, they have turned beggars. Isn’t that jittering?. You can imagine the level of embarrassment a supposed Honourable member that has represented Isoko people for 16 years is causing his party and Isoko people.
“It may interest you to know that Isoko people are aware of the outdated divide and rule tactics of the PDP. The party likes appealing to the sentiments of electorates while shying away from its responsibilities. This is how it has fared before now. But today, the PDP has started running from pillar to post to correct the dishonourable statement of its candidate, whom the Isoko people have been tongue-lashing over his divisive comments.
“Don’t be surprised if Leo Ogor comes up with an apology tomorrow because I know that some persons in the PDP are trying to force him to apologize. This is how you know a man that is gasping for air or survival over an imminent election defeat”, Okperi said.
